My family and I have significant plans for migrating to another country in the future. After extensive research and solicitation of advice, Vancouver, Canada seemingly was a solid choice. My sister and her family have been living in Vancouver for more than 5 years now, and they appeared to be very happy with the decision to reside there. This instigated me to ruminate on settling there as well.

This write up introduces Vancouver and explains why it is an exceptional place to be in. Though Vancouver is listed as one of the most expensive cities in the world, reports would say that it is consistently ranked top five worldwide cities for liveability and quality of life. I guess that explains why my sister is happier compared when she was in our home city. It is also considered as a Beta Global city – a city that plays a vital role in the global economic network (to put it simply).

Vancouver is physically beautiful. High rise city feels skyscrapers surrounded by snow-capped mountains and glistening blue sea would look as exaggerated modifiers. I challenge you to Google images of the town, and you will be awestruck of “best of both worlds” (urban and nature) photographs of the place.

Stanley Park is the most famous landmark of the city. It delivers beauty and class. Vancouver’s vast natural land and water provide its inhabitants and tourists countless outdoor recreational activities. From cycling, skiing, hiking, kayaking, camping, or watching grizzly bears, Vancouver seems to have all possible outdoor activities. This city must be in your priority list if you are sports-minded and a nature lover.

When there are vast land and water, there is good quality food production. Canada believes in the philosophy of “farm to table.” Vancouver food chefs can source out food nearby of the raw food natural production. The city is known for its seafood. Fresh local salmon takes the first spot. This fish that is exported all over the world can be savored in Vancouver’s food hubs fresh out of the line.

If you carefully watch the background of a famous movie or TV series that you watched, you would be surprised that it was actually filmed in Vancouver. The city is also dubbed as the “Hollywood North.” Filming and TV industry has indeed branched out to the town. Many of your favorite TV shows were filmed in Metro Vancouver. Yes, the scenic beauties that you see in these films are direct reflections of the city. Let’s talk about the climate. Vancouver is one of Canada’s warmest cities in the winter as it has the coolest summer average high. In other words, its weather is not too extreme. However, it does rain a lot. It rains for about 40% of the year. So, if you are planning of visiting Vancouver, August may be the best month for non-rain expectations.

Vancouver is like the world in a snow globe. You have the best of everything within reach. Many nationalities wanted to be in Vancouver.

I leave you with a quote from Douglas Coupland’s Vancouver book

– “So this is many places in one, City of Glass, there’s a helpful ‘Parallel Universe’ map, where the city and its surrounding region are divided into global doppelgangers. So you get Denver and Dallas, Auckland and Vermont, Bavaria and Liverpool, and a couple of dozen more places, all within the confines of the greater Vancouver area. We set off from Singapore for lunch in San Francisco, then stroll over to Sydney; or, in the real world, take a two-minute boat trip from False Creek to Granville Island, then a short cab ride over to Gastown.”

Since traveling is my most wanted dream, I put Vancouver, Canada on my list this year. Hope to bump with you there! See yah!
